Halloween gets all the attention in October, and rightfully so! But, there’s another event you should be celebrating, and some of you might already be doing so. October is also National Pasta Month, and here are a few local places where you can chow down on a delicious bowl of everyone’s favorite carb.

La Villetta – Less than 10 minutes away from your own kitchen, La Villetta is the second location of a successful Italian restaurant family from Long Island who REALLY know how to make a mean bowl of pasta. With dozens of different pasta choices (and you can probably suggest your own if you ask nicely), this place serves up all your favorites, as well as some new and interesting combos you might have never tried before. While they don’t deliver, their close proximity to Alston means your pasta will still be as delicious if you take it home.

Iron Ramen – Okay, so Asian cuisine is not the first one you think of when you think of pasta – but it should be! After all, the Chinese invented noodles. Over 4,000 years, they’ve really learned to perfect them, and the Japanese have added their own spin to pasta with the very popular, ramen. When most people hear “ramen”, they think of microwaved noodles from college – but we promise, it is so much more than that! At this local ramen restaurant, just 20 minutes from Alston, you pick your broth, meat and toppings to go along with your noodles. While they don’t deliver, you can order online if you want to take it home. Ramen is a HUGE foodie craze these days, so if you haven’t already indulged, this is a good local spot to try it!
