Halloween is all about horror and fear, but we totally get it if that’s not your thing. We can’t all be weirdos! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Luckily, you can still get in the Halloween spirit and have some fun of friends, while still keeping it pretty chill. Long Island has a few cool, non-scary Halloween activities around us, here are our favorites.

Ballet Long Island – If you’re a fan of performing arts, Ballet Long Island is a much closer trip to home than Lincoln Center, at only 5 minutes away from your Alston apartment. This month they are putting on a special performance for October called “Ghosts, Goblins and Witches”. As you can tell, there won’t be any nutcrackers in this ballet…but you still should get the same thrills with an extra Halloween chill.

RISE of the Jack O’Lanterns – While it may not be the first giant jack o’lantern event, it’s definitely the closest to home! About 45 minutes from Alston in Westbury Gardens is RISE of the Jack O’Lanterns, the largest collection of lit pumpkins on Long Island. Walk through a lighted forest as thousands (no really, over 5,000) jack o’lanterns light the way. With all different sizes, colors and of course, faces, this event is truly a work of art, as well as a beautiful and non-scary way to spend a fun October evening.
