During this time, some of us are more concerned with our health now more than ever. In the Ronkonkoma area, we’re lucky that it’s very easy to stay healthy – near our Alston apartments, there are tons of farmers’ markets where you can get fresh, local produce, bread, meats and other goods.
Despite the pandemic, many of these farmers’ markets are still in operation, serving the community by providing fare that’s unique to our region. If your fridge is looking a little bare but you know what can be found at the supermarket just won’t cut it, check out these nearby farmers’ markets.
Islip Farmers Market, located at 655 Main St, Islip which is 18 minutes from your Alston apartment, is a Saturday 7 a.m.-12 p.m. farmers’ market that in the wake of the coronavirus, is accepting pre-orders for all vendors. Since all customers must practice social distancing and wear a mask, you can trust that you’re safe at this market.
Some of the vendors at the Islip Farmers Market include Papa Pasquale Famous Ravioli for ravioli, smoked meats, cheese, sausages and pesto; Orwashers Baked Goods for fresh artisan breads, bagels, rolls and pastries; and Fred Terry and Son Farms for fruits and vegetables.
Nesconset Farmers Market, located at 127 Smithtown Blvd, Nesconset which is nine minutes from your Alston apartment, is open every Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. through Nov. 21.
Here, you can find fare such as vegetables, herbs, fruits, plants, baked goods, a variety of fish and shellfish, eggs, cheeses, pasta, pickles, gluten free products, handcrafted soaps and much more.
