Brightwaters Farms, located at 1624 Manatuck Blvd, Bay Shore which is 18 minutes from your Alston apartment, is the oldest operating farm on the South Shore. The farm is open to the public every fall for their annual Fall Harvest Festival.

Brightwaters Farms has been in existence since the late 1600s. The farmland was purchased from the King of England by the Phelps family, the farm’s original founders. The farm at that time consisted of thousands of beautiful undeveloped acres, some wooded and some cultivated, as well as grazing fields for the cows, sheep, and other animals that were raised on the farm. Today, it’s a flourishing farm that continues to be popular with visitors.

Elwood Pumpkin Farm, located at 1500 E Jericho Turnpike, Huntington which is 18 minutes from your Alston apartment, is one of Long Island’s most popular pumpkin farms. Unlike most other farms in the area, their pumpkins are grown in their fields.

Visitors are invited to pick off the vine and experience how fresh a pumpkin can be. Pumpkins are then priced by size. Plus, kids will love their child-friendly corn maze and hay ride, giving everyone a family a true taste of the farm.
